The Lord's Prayer in Aramaic

The Lord's Prayer written in Aramaic.

I recently received these two beautiful versions of the Lord's Prayer from my old and dear friend Alicia. These two versions are scholarly translations direct from the ancient Aramaic. I think they are wonderful, more inclusive and expansive versions then the version I learned as a child and is most commonly known.

Enjoy, and Blessed Be...

The Lord's Prayer, version one

O Birther! Father-Mother of the Cosmos,

Focus your light within us-make it useful

Create your reign of unity now--

Your one desire then acts with ours, as in all light, so in all forms.

Grant what we need each day in bread and insight.

Loose the cords of mistakes binding us, as we release the strands we hold of others' guilt.

Don't let surface things delude us.

But free us from what holds us back.

From you is born all ruling will, the power and the life to do, the song that beautifies all, from age to age it renews.

Truly--power to these statements--may they be the ground from which all my actions grow;

Amen.

The Lord's Prayer, version two

Oh Thou, from whom the breath of life comes, who fills all realms of sound, light and vibration.

May Your light be experienced in my utmost holiest.

Your Heavenly Domain approaches.

Let Your will come true - in the universe (all that vibrates) just as on earth (that is material and dense).

Give us wisdom (understanding, assistance) for our daily need, detach the fetters of faults that bind us, (karma) like we let go the guilt of others.

Let us not be lost in superficial things (materialism, common temptations), but let us be freed from that what keeps us from our true purpose.

From You comes the all-working will, the lively strength to act, the song that beautifies all and renews itself from age to age.

Sealed in trust, faith and truth. (I confirm with my entire being)

Amen.
